Real estate commissions in the US

In the Unites States, with regard to real estate commissions, which customers who sell their real estate had to pay a commission of 5-6% to their agents on each trading under the existing standard,  National Association of Realtors (NAR)  made a decision to amend the current guidelines in the wake  of recent straight lawsuits on March 15, 2024.

Pursuant to the amended rule, customers who sell their homes do not need to carry the burden on commissions that customers who purchase the properties  have to pay to buyers’ agents.
To put it another way, as a result of this settlement, since July 2024, the sellers are responsible for paying only commissions related to sellers’ agents.

From the perspecitve of practices in Japan, it is considered that the above amended rule is common one.
